Issue:
May a
Judicial Official provide a referral/recommendation to
an existing court employee who is applying for another
Judicial Branch position?
Response:
Based
upon the facts presented, the Committee unanimously
agreed that the Judicial Official may write a letter of
recommendation provided that the Judicial Official has
personal knowledge of the person recommended and that
the person recommended is not a relative of the Judicial
Official within the meaning of Canon 3B or C.G.S. §
51-39a.
