Membership Enrollment / Renewal

The Membership is an integral part of the Connecticut Supreme Court Historical Society! The Society is a network of attorneys, judges, historians, educators, and Connecticut citizens who share an interest in Connecticut’s legal history, and in the role it plays today.

Benefits of the Membership:

Presentation Series - On occasion the Historical Society sponsors a variety of lectures and presentations, including discussions of:

  • The Amistad trials in the Hartford Old State House
  • The Connecticut Colony's Path Towards Independence
  • How the Judicial Branch Addresses Limited English Proficiency

Support of Educators, Researchers, and Students - For high school students, the Historical Society sponsors Connecticut History Day and an annual Law Day Art and Poetry contest. Annually, we support the study of legal history by awarding the Christopher Collier Prize to a historian, and the Hon. Peter T. Zarella Scholarship to an undergraduate or graduate student.

Invitation to the Annual Dinner - Our capstone event each spring is the annual dinner meeting at the New Haven Lawn Club, where we network while hearing from a variety of distinguished keynote speakers, in recent years including:

  • Neal Katyal, professor of national security law at Georgetown University and former Acting U.S. Solicitor General
  • Chief Justice Richard A. Robinson (Ret.) of the Connecticut Supreme Court
  • Deborah N. Archer, professor of Clinical Law at New York University and President of the American Civil Liberties Union

Subscription to the Connecticut Supreme Court Historical Journal - Published annually. The publication contains articles written by respected historians and legal experts.

Archive Preservation - Your membership supports the upkeep and preservation of documents and artifacts detailing Connecticut rich judicial history.
