In response to the defense's request to postpone the sentencing in
State of Connecticut vs. Michael Skakel, Superior Court Judge John F.
Kavanewsky Jr. has ordered prosecutors to respond in writing by Monday, July
29, 2002, as to their position on the request.
On the basis of the defendant's request and the prosecution's response to
the defendant's motion, Judge Kavanewsky then will rule on the matter
without a hearing. The Judicial Branch will advise the news media as soon as
the decision is rendered.
