Probation officers from Waterbury, New
Britain, Hartford and New Haven have formed a basketball team that will play
in the First Annual Law Enforcement Tournament Saturday and Sunday in
Bridgeport. The games will be played at Cardinal Sheehan Center located at
1494 Main Street.
The Waterbury Adult Probation team is
captained by Kendall Chambers who says the players will "have some fun and
give back for the good of the community. We are hoping this is just the
beginning in our efforts -- that more programs will follow in cities
throughout the state."
Proceeds from the tournament will provide
scholarships for inner city kids. The Community Alliance Committee of
Bridgeport is sponsoring the event.
It is a double-elimination tournament with
the Judicial Branch probation officers playing their first game at 11:00 am
Saturday. Eight teams are competing.
