Public Invited to Seniors and the Law Program at the Stamford-Norwalk
Judicial District Courthouse

Members of the public are invited to attend a program for senior citizens entitled "Seniors and the Law." Sponsored by the Connecticut Judicial Branch, the program is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at the Stamford-Norwalk Judicial District Courthouse. The purpose of the event is to provide seniors and their families and friends with access to reliable and objective information about significant issues that may confront them.

Scheduled speakers include: the Honorable Joseph H. Pellegrino, Chief Court Administrator; the Honorable John F. Kavanewsky Jr., Administrative Judge for the Stamford-Norwalk Judicial District; Attorney General Richard Blumenthal; Acting Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Edwin Rodriguez; Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney John DeMattia; Probate Court Administrator James J. Lawlor; Attorney Sandra Sherlock-White; Jury Administrator Karen A. Berris; and Robyn N. Oliver, Program Manager for the Judicial Branch's Volunteer and Intern Program.

Topics scheduled to be addressed include: fraud and schemes; abuse and neglect and exploitation of persons 60 years or older; Medicaid fraud and physical abuse of seniors; power of attorney, durable power of attorney for health care, living wills and do-not-resuscitate orders; and jury service as it relates to senior citizens.

All seniors and their families and friends are invited to attend this free program.

The program will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Registration is available online or by calling the External Affairs Division, State of Connecticut Judicial Branch, (860) 757-2270.

The Stamford Courthouse is located at 123 Hoyt Street, Stamford.
