Courtroom:

The hearing will be held in Courtroom 2 on the first floor of the building.

Security:

Everyone is required to pass through a metal detector each time he/she enters the courthouse. Please cooperate with the sheriffs. No cameras, recording devices, food or drinks are permitted in the building.

Schedule:

The hearing will take place at the Superior Court at 123 Hoyt Street, Stamford, CT at 10 a.m., Friday, October 20th. If necessary, subsequent dates for the hearing will be set by the judge.

Seating:

The judge has determined that this matter will be open to the press and public. However, courtroom seating is limited. A media advisory was placed on our website and published by the Associated Press. This indicated that media requests for seating would be accepted until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17th. REQUESTS HAVE EXCEEDED THE NUMBER OF AVAILABLE SEATS. Therefore, it will be necessary to set up media pools as indicated in the advisory. Four seats have been reserved for the public and will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Court Hours:
The courthouse is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Generally, judges recess in the morning from 11:30-11:45, for lunch from 1-2 p.m. and again from 3:30-3:45 p.m. These times are subject to change by the judge.

Cameras and Other Equipment:
The rules governing media in the Connecticut Practice Book do not permit the broadcasting, televising, recording or taking of photographs in the courtroom and adjacent areas in juvenile matters and any matters prior to trial. Therefore, recording equipment and cameras will not be permitted in the courthouse.

Cell phones and pagers may be brought into the courthouse, but must be turned off or placed in silent mode while in the courtroom. Calls may be made on cellular phones in any area outside the courtrooms, so long as no disruption of court proceedings occurs. Laptop computers may be used at the discretion of the judge. They must be quiet.

Sketch artists may bring necessary equipment into the courtroom.

Court Directions:
The directions to all Connecticut courts may be found on the Judicial Branch website.

Metro North has frequent trains from Grand Central Station to Stamford. In Stamford, cabs and a shuttle bus are available at the station.

Transcripts/Documents:
Judge Dennis has agreed to release transcripts of all matters heard in court. Copies of transcripts may be obtained by contacting Susan Wandzilak, Official Reporter, at 203-965-5238. She will explain the costs.

Judge Dennis has issued her decision regarding the release of documents. The decision may be found on our website. No documents will be released.

Evidence:
In order to preserve the integrity of the evidence, no items will be available for examination. Since cameras are prohibited, evidentiary items will not be available to be photographed.

Telephones:
Office telephones are not available for public use. There are two public telephones on the first floor and two on the second.

Parking:
Onsite parking is available for staff only. There is a municipal parking garage on Forest Street. Directions to this lot are located on a sign in front of the courthhouse. There is a private lot behind Brooks Pharmacy that charges a fee.

A new courthouse is currently under construction in the area that had previously been available for public parking. We regret the inconvenience.

Court Property:
Members of the press and public must, at all times, position themselves on the court property so that public ingress and egress to the buildings is not restricted. Please follow the sheriffs' directions to ensure both free access and safety. An area of the parking lot will be set aside for cameras and other equipment. Please do not sit on staff cars or place equipment on them. No food or drink is permitted in the courthouse. The courthouse does not have a cafeteria. There is no smoking in the courthouse.
