In Re Michael S.

The Connecticut Supreme Court will hear oral arguments from the attorneys in the case of In Re Michael S. on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. in the Supreme Court courtroom which is located at 231 Capitol Avenue in Hartford.

The hearing will be held promptly at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2001. News professionals are asked to report to the Courthouse no later than 9:00 a.m. and to take their seats in the courtroom no later than 9:50 a.m.

The Supreme Court has granted, in accordance with Sections 70-9 and 70-10 of the Connecticut Practice Book, the request of CT-N The Connecticut Network to videotape for later broadcast the oral arguments in this case. Participating members of the broadcasting, televising or recording media who are interested in obtaining a feed from CT-N must report to the courthouse no later than 9:00 a.m. and have the necessary equipment set up no later than 9:30 a.m. News professionals will not be permitted to bring any cameras or recording equipment for the sole purpose of obtaining a feed, into the courthouse after 9:30 a.m. CT-N has offered to provide a videotape of the oral argument after the proceeding and may be contacted at 860-240-8317. Any media outlet interested in obtaining a feed must comply with the Protocol for Videotaping or Photographing Supreme Court Oral Arguments and the Sections 70-9 and 70-10 of the Connecticut Practice Book, which are attached to this advisory.

Following the proceedings, the media will be asked to clear the courtroom and wait across Capitol Avenue on the State Capitol grounds for any statements that may be made. Interviews will not be permitted in the courtroom or in any location within the Supreme Court building. A podium will be located outside on the State Capitol grounds for any statements. In case of inclement weather, the State Capitol Police may direct you to an alternate location.

Thanks to the cooperation and planning of the State Capitol Police, satellite trucks will be permitted to park in the State Capitol parking lot beginning at 8 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2001. (Directions to the State Capitol are at the end of this advisory). The State Capitol Police may be reached at 860-240-0240.

Click here for Directions to the courthouse. There is no onsite parking. No cameras, recording devices, laptop computers, food or drinks are permitted in the Supreme Court courtroom. The marshals will not permit entry to anyone having any of these items with them.

Cell phones and pagers must be muted in the Supreme Court building and turned off in the Supreme Courtroom. Any calls must be made or received outside of the building.

DIRECTIONS to the State Capitol:

Directions from I-84 West:
Take the Asylum Avenue Exit. At the light, make a right turn onto Asylum Avenue and follow to the first light. Make a left turn onto Broad Street. Follow straight past the Hartford Courant to Capitol Avenue. Make a left turn onto Capitol Avenue. The State Capitol will be on your left.

From I-84 heading East:
Take the Capitol Avenue exit. Make a left turn onto Capitol Avenue. The State Capitol will be on your left.

From I-91 North or South:
Take the Capitol Avenue Exit. You will come to a circle, travel halfway around to Elm Street. Go to the end of Elm Street, you will now be facing the Capitol Building.
