The Connecticut Judicial
Branch's Office of Victim Services (OVS) is providing assistance to
Connecticut residents affected by the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
The Office of Victim Services may be reached at 1-800-822-8428 (in-state)
or at 860-747-6070 (out-of-state). The following assistance is available:

Counseling
The Office of Victim
Services contracts with a network of qualified counselors located
throughout Connecticut who will be available to provide initial counseling
services free of charge. Staff at OVS may refer families to counseling
services and to support groups for those who are mourning the death of a
loved one due to homicide or for those who survived or personally
witnessed the events of September 11, 2001.
Financial
Assistance

Family members of
individuals who were passengers on either American Airlines Flight 11
or United Airlines Flight 175 may be eligible for financial
compensation through the Massachusetts Crime Victim Compensation
Board.

For those Connecticut
residents who were injured or who are missing from the attack on the
World Trade Center, financial compensation may be available through
the New York State Crime Victims Board.
OVS is available to assist
affected Connecticut residents with the completion of the New York
financial claim forms or the Massachusetts financial compensation forms
and applications. For such assistance, please contact to Linda Johnston or
Ron Manzione at (800) 822-8428, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to
4:30 p.m.
