Judicial
Branch to Highlight Office of Victim Services at Friday Program
The Judicial Branch is highlighting its Office of Victim Services
(OVS)
on Friday, Oct. 19, as part of the Branch's Opening Our Doors
tour program.
Members of the Legislative and Executive Branches are invited, along with
the news media. The program will be at the New Britain Judicial District
Courthouse, 20 Franklin Square. Visitors are asked to arrive by 9 a.m.
OVS staff members are scheduled to provide an overview of services,
statutory responsibilities, administrative functions, public education and
training, and the agency's response to victims of the Sept. 11 attacks at
the World Trade Center.
The tour is the sixth this year under the 4-year-old
Opening Our
Doors program. The goal of the program is to provide opportunities
for policymakers to gain a better understanding of the various programs that
the Judicial Branch administers. Other programs have dealt with the complex
litigation docket, the habeas docket, adult probation sex offender units,
jury service, and family violence and family relations.
Members of the news media interested in attending should contact the
Judicial Branch before the event. To RSVP or for information, call Rhonda
Stearley-Hebert, Manager of Communications, External Affairs Division, (860)
757-2270.
