William J. Sullivan et al. vs. Andrew J. McDonald et al.

A session of the state Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the case of William J. Sullivan et al. vs. Andrew J. McDonald et al. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at 10 a.m. The arguments will occur in the Supreme Court courtroom at 231 Capitol Ave., Hartford.

All members of the Supreme Court, Appellate Court Chief Judge Joseph P. Flynn and Appellate Court Judge Barry R. Schaller have recused themselves from hearing the defendants’ application for certification to appeal, pursuant to Section 52-265a of the Connecticut General Statutes. Consequently, Judge Flynn designated Appellate Court Judge Thomas A. Bishop as the next most senior appellate judge to act on the defendants’ application.

Judge Bishop granted the application and appointed the following Appellate Court judges to hear the matter: Judge Alexandra D. DiPentima, Judge C. Ian McLachlan, Judge F. Herbert Gruendel, Judge Lubbie Harper Jr., Judge Chase T. Rogers and Judge Douglas S. Lavine. The panel, in addition to Judge Bishop, shall act as the Supreme Court for purposes of hearing and deciding the matter.

The Court has granted, in accordance with Section 70-10 of the Connecticut Practice Book, the request of CT-N to videotape the oral arguments in this case. Members of the broadcasting, televising or recording media interested in obtaining a clean pool Supreme Court Session feed should contact Bill Mendoza at CT-N at (860) 240-8317 to make the necessary arrangements.
