In Re: Claims of Racial Disparity in Death Penalty Cases
A hearing on a motion to dismiss in the
above referenced case is scheduled to begin Thursday, Dec.
13, 2007, at 10 a.m. before Superior Court Judge Stanley T.
Fuger Jr. The case also is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 14 at
10 a.m.
Judge Fuger will conduct the hearing
from the gymnasium at Northern Correctional Institution in
Somers. All of the participating inmates from death row are
expected to attend the hearing. Currently, those inmates are:
Robert Breton, Sedrick Cobb, Robert Courchesne, Russell Peeler,
Richard Reynolds, Eduardo Santiago and Daniel Webb.
Members of the media and public may
watch the hearing via a live video feed into Courtroom A, at the
GA 19
Courthouse, located at 20 Park St., Rockville. Members of
the news media and the public will not be allowed into Northern
Correctional Institution to watch the proceedings.
The motion to dismiss was filed on
behalf of the Commissioner of Correction. Copies of the motion
and other documents in the case are available for review at the
court clerk’s office at GA 19.
The consolidated habeas matter stems
from an order from the Connecticut Supreme Court that all racial
disparity claims in death penalty cases should be presented in a
consolidated habeas corpus proceeding.
