PRESS ADVISORY: Waterbury Juvenile Matters Courthouse To Be Named after the Honorable Robert D. Glass

The Connecticut Judicial Branch in collaboration with the Friends of the Justice Glass Committee will name the Juvenile Matters Courthouse located at 7 Kendrick Ave. in Waterbury after the Honorable Robert D. Glass on Monday, May 19, 2008, at 3 p.m. on the grounds of the courthouse.

In 1967, Judge Glass became the first African-American to serve as a juvenile judge. In 1978, he became a judge of the Superior Court and ended his distinguished career as the first African-American justice to be appointed to the Connecticut Supreme Court. He died in 2001.
