Upon his admittance
to the Connecticut Bar immediately following law school, he was in
private practice in New Haven until 1990, when he was appointed a
Superior Court Judge.
In May 1997 he was
named Chief Administrative Judge, Civil Division, and held that post
until March 2000 when he was elevated to the Appellate Court. He was
named Chief Court Administrator of the Connecticut Judicial Branch
December 27, 2000, by former Chief Justice Francis M. McDonald, Jr. and
remained a Judge of the Appellate Court.
Effective Feb. 1, 2006,
Judge Pellegrino took senior judge status and retired as Chief Court
Administrator. As a senior judge, he will hear Appellate Court cases.
A Fellow with the
Connecticut Bar Foundation, Judge Pellegrino has served as a member of
the Executive Committee of the Superior Court and a member of the
Superior Court Rules Committee.
Throughout his
professional career, Judge Pellegrino has received numerous awards,
including the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association’s Judicial Award
(1996); the Connecticut Italian American Bar Association’s Achievement
Award (1998); the Honorable Robert C. Zampano Award for Excellence in
Mediation from the Community Mediation, Inc. (1998) and the Italian Law
Society Award from Quinnipiac School of Law (1998).
