Notice re: Magistrate Applications
 
The Judicial Branch is not currently receiving applications for appointments of magistrates.

Superior Court

Magistrates are appointed by the Chief Court Administrator pursuant to C.G.S. § 51-193l. They hear and decide small claims cases and may also hear certain infractions, motor vehicle, and other violation cases. Appointments are effective for a three-year term. Compensation is $150 per day and magistrates are limited to serving no more than 90 days per year.

Attorneys who have been members of the bar for at least five years may qualify. Guidelines for Magistrates are available electronically. Questions should be directed to:
