Transfer of Dissolution of Marriage (Divorce) Actions filed
in the Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District on or after
September 6, 2022, from the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk
to the Judicial District of Fairfield at Bridgeport



Pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes § 51-347b for the efficient operation of the courts and to insure the prompt and proper administration of justice, I order the following:

All dissolution of marriage (divorce) actions (Case type F00) that are filed in the Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District on or after September 6, 2022, and until further notice, where one or both parties reside(s) in Norwalk or Westport, shall be transferred to the Judicial District of Fairfield at Bridgeport. The clerk of the court for the Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District shall accordingly transfer the files of all such actions tot he clerk of the court for the Judicial District of Fairfield at Bridgeport.

As permitted pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes § 51-345 (a) (3) (E), if one or both parties reside(s) in Norwalk or Westport, the action may be made returnable at the direction of the plaintiff directly to the Judicial District of Fairfield at Bridgeport, which will avoid the administrative time required to transfer the case.
