Law Day activities opened in the state on Friday,
April 29th with the Fairfield County Bar Association-sponsored event at the
Stamford Judicial District Courthouse before more than 100 students,
parents, attorneys and other interested parties.
Many of the students—first graders through 12th graders—were winners of the FCBA Art &
Essay Contest. The winning art projects adorned the Stamford courtroom where
the festivities were held and passages from the essays were quoted by
Superior Court Judge Auden C. Grogins, who presided over the goings-on. (Continued below slideshow)

Judge Grogins explained the nuances of Miranda v. Arizona in her remarks saying, "This landmark case was crucial in developing procedural protections and guidelines to be followed by law enforcement across the country. These procedural protections were intended to guarantee that all persons accused of a crime received fair and just treatment while in police custody and while being interrogated."
Participating students were from St. Aloysius in New Canaan, St. Cecilia in Stamford, All Saints Catholic in Norwalk and Westhill High School of Stamford.
