The Connecticut Supreme Court Historical Society, in conjunction with the Connecticut Supreme Court, celebrated Law Day 2018 on Tuesday, May 1, with a celebration of the separation of powers doctrine.
The ceremony, held in the Supreme Court Courtroom, featured high school winners of an art and essay contest based on this year’s theme, Separation of Powers: Framework for Freedom.
Bairon Salgado-Cruz, who attends the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, won the art award for his depiction of the 3 Branches of Government.
Charlie Case, who also attends the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, won the essay contest. His entry is named We Come in Three.
Speakers included Connecticut Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Richard N. Palmer; Attorney Wesley W. Horton, president of the Connecticut Supreme Court Historical Society; and Judge Kimberly A. Knox, who chaired the Supreme Court Historical Society’s Law Day Committee.
